In 2023 my friends and I founded the TEDxSociety at the University of Edinburgh with the aim of encouraging students to share their ideas and to provide the opportunity to organise the yearly TEDxUniversityofEdinburgh conference (a 400+ attendee event).

My main responsibility as co-president was to lead our team in producing our main event for October 2023 under the theme “The Great Unknown“. Generally, I aimed to be a source of encouragement and support to our team through my managerial skills, industry knowledge, and work ethic. At the same time, I was thinking ahead by creating and developing our processes such that the incoming committee could pick up where we left off, and hit the ground running. Below is the org chart that I made – I did more than just this for the society, but I just think it looks really pretty!

Overall, I could not be more proud of what we accomplished, particularly because we were all full-time undergraduate students in our second-year by the time of the event. Plus, I have a photo and video of me standing on a TEDx stage – not many can say that!

Have a look at the links below if you would like to find out more or watch the wonderful talks that made up the event:

Big success Charlie!
Flawlessly executed and very well received.
This was my first TEDx event, and I found it both interesting and informative.
Thank you Jimmy. The clear-out of the sign couldn’t have been possible without you, your van, and your saw either 😂.
